Fernando Palha collection of Portuguese historical autographs, 1523-1890.

Contains Palha's collection of letters and documents from the 16th to the 19th century, signed by prominent figures in the history of Portugal, including members of Portuguese and other European royal families and political, cultural, and religious leaders. Portugal's kings, John III and John V, and sovereigns of Spain and France are among the individuals represented in the collection. Also contains correspondence of Luiz de Vasconcellos de Sousa, III conde de Castello Melhor; letters written to Palha and members of his family from prominent individuals in Portugal and other countries in Europe; and letters of Camilo Castelo Branco, discussing his life and writings. Also includes some manuscripts of poems and photographs.
